At our fast-paced rescue, fosters are more than caregivers—they’re trusted partners. We’re seeking fosters who are communicative, attentive, and actively involved in their foster pug’s journey.
Fostering gives pugs a chance to rest, heal, and feel safe while they wait for their forever homes. Many would not survive or thrive without a foster stepping up.

Our foster pugs come from many situations, including owner surrenders, strays, medical recovery, and senior care. Some are young or shy and need time and love to build confidence. We thoughtfully match each pug to your lifestyle, home, and comfort level.
What Fostering Is (and Isn’t)
Fostering is temporary, flexible, life-saving, and fully supported by the rescue. It is not a lifetime commitment, not financially overwhelming, and not something you do alone.
What You’ll Do as a Foster
You’ll provide daily care like feeding, potty breaks, cuddles, and love. You’ll share updates about your foster pug, help with vet visits and meet-and-greets, and attend adoption events when possible. Your insight helps us find the best forever homes.
What We Provide
We cover all veterinary care and offer guidance, support, and supplies as available. You’ll be backed by a dedicated rescue team and foster community every step of the way.

From there, you’ll be ready to join the Foster Squad and start making a difference in a pug’s life!
yhyWWhat training is required to foster or volunteer?
To get started, you’ll first complete the Foster Agreement, then finish the Shelter and Rescue Training – Canine course through Maddie’s University. Next, we’ll schedule an onboarding call to review your role and answer any questions. Once that’s done, you’ll join our Slack channel and be ready to start fostering and helping pugs in need!
How long do dogs stay in foster care?
Every dog is different. Some stay weeks, others longer—we work with your availability. On average, our dogs get adopted within 1 month.
Who pays for medical care?
Arizona Pug Party covers approved veterinary care.
What does a home check entail?
A home check is a quick visit to ensure your environment is safe and suitable for a foster pug. We’ll look at where your foster will sleep, eat, and play, and check that your home is secure and free from hazards. This helps us make sure every dog is comfortable and protected while in your care. Don’t worry—it’s a supportive process, not an inspection!
What if it’s not a good fit?
We’ll work with you to find a better placement—your honesty matters.
Can I foster if I work full-time?
Yes! Many of our fosters work full-time.
What if I need to travel?
Whenever you’re out of town, a fellow approved foster will lovingly care for your foster, keeping them safe and happy until you return.
Why does Arizona Pug Party accept owner-surrendered dogs?
As a nonprofit, our goal is to help reduce the overpopulation and overcrowding of animals in local shelters while also preventing more dogs from becoming strays. By taking in owner-surrendered pugs, we provide a safe, loving environment where they can recover, thrive, and eventually find their forever homes. This helps support both the dogs and the community while giving every pug the best chance at a happy life.
